Being in the kitchen allows for an intimacy you likely haven’t experienced together … yet. And when all is said and done, you’ll get to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Sexy ingredients are a must for date night, so I’ve worked aphrodisiacs into a delicious salad recipe that will be a turn-on for both men and women.
The sex appeal of strawberries dates back to Roman times and was served to newlyweds to promote romance. Watermelon is said to boosts women’s libidos. And figs are the original forbidden fruit.
This recipe is broken down so both partners can share responsibility that will meld into one, beautiful culinary creation. Add some heat to your love life!
Spicy and Sweet Salad for Two
Servings: 2 (duh)
Time: 20 minutes
- ½ lb. wild caught shrimp
- 2 cups watermelon, cubed
- 1 lime
- 4 medium beets
- ½ cup strawberries (optional)
- ¼ cup organic feta
- Mint leaves or basil (optional, as garnish)
- 1 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- ½ tablespoon Fig vinegar or balsamic vinegar
- A sprinkle of sea salt
- A pinch of cayenne pepper
Put the shrimp and watermelon on skewers and fire up the grill. Cook them with a little bit of salt, pepper and a squeeze of lime juice at the end.
Clean the beets, chop off the top and bottom and boil them for 15 minutes until soft then run them under cool water as you peel off the skin—use a dish towel or paper towel so your hands don’t turn bright red. You cold also buy pre-cooked beets J
Meanwhile, make the dressing by putting all the ingredients in a jar with a tight fitting lid or a bowl and mix well. Taste and adjust accordingly. Does it need more spice? Go for it!
When the beets are done, slice them finely. If you’re using strawberries, cut them in half. Mix the beets and strawberries with the dressing.
Plate your masterpiece. I like to put the beets and strawberries on the plate then lay the skewers over top. Finally, sprinkle on your feta, garnish with greens and maybe a little extra squeeze of lime juice. Enjoy!
